How VookMail Works — Our Methodology
This page explains, in plain terms, how VookMail creates addresses, receives mail and protects the service.
1. Creating an address
When you open VookMail, a random username is combined with one of our domains to create a working address instantly. You can also type your own username, pick any domain from the list, or press the shuffle button for a new random address. No account or password is required; the address is tied to your browser session.
2. Domains
VookMail operates a pool of dedicated receiving domains. Each domain has MX (Mail Exchanger) DNS records that tell the world's mail servers where to deliver messages for that domain. Offering many domains gives you choice and helps when a particular website does not accept one of them.
3. Receiving mail
- A website sends an email to your VookMail address over SMTP.
- The sender's mail server looks up the MX records of the domain and delivers the message to our inbound mail provider.
- The provider parses the message and forwards it securely to VookMail over HTTPS.
- VookMail stores the message and its attachments and shows it in your inbox, usually within seconds.
4. The inbox
Your inbox checks for new messages automatically. Emails are displayed in an isolated frame so their content cannot interfere with the page, and attachments can be downloaded individually. A QR code lets you open the same inbox on your phone.
5. Automatic deletion
Messages and attachments are deleted automatically after a short retention period (about one day). Scheduled jobs remove expired data and old log files, so nothing accumulates. You can also delete an address yourself at any time.
6. Privacy
We do not ask for your name, phone number or real email address. We only process the technical data needed to run and protect the service, as described in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
7. Abuse prevention
To keep VookMail reliable for everyone we use bot protection (reCAPTCHA), rate limiting and server firewall rules, and we act on abuse reports. Use of the service must follow our Terms and Conditions.
8. Apps
The Android app and Huawei AppGallery app use the same infrastructure, so addresses and delivery work the same way as on the website.
